Lake Deborah Salt in Uthrive: Where Our Electrolytes Start

Lake Deborah salt is the ingredient we are proudest of. It is the fifth item on the Uthrive label and it is where our electrolytes start. From a lake, not a lab.

What is Lake Deborah salt?

Lake Deborah salt is a certified organic salt harvested from Lake Deborah, an ancient salt lake in Western Australia. It is a natural salt, gathered from the lake rather than manufactured. You can learn more about the lake and the salt on our Lake Deborah salt page.

Where it comes from

Lake Deborah sits in the remote inland of Western Australia. Salt forms naturally on the lake, and that salt is harvested and certified organic. For an Australian owned brand, using a salt from our own backyard just made sense. It ties every can back to a real place.

Why it is in Uthrive

Sodium is the electrolyte you lose most when you sweat. If a drink is going to carry electrolytes, sodium needs to be there. Lake Deborah salt is how sodium gets into our recipe, in a natural form, from a source we are proud to name on the label.

It works side by side with potassium citrate, which brings potassium, the other electrolyte in the can. Together they are the reason Uthrive is a natural hydration drink with real electrolytes, not just a flavoured sparkling water. For more on why sodium matters, read Why Sodium Matters in Hydration (And the Salt We Use at Uthrive) and Lake Deborah Salt: Australia's Premium Natural Electrolyte Source.

Will it taste salty?

Not in the way you might expect. The salt is balanced with fruit, a light tang from citric acid and our natural flavours, so you get a clean, refreshing drink with a subtle savoury edge. See the full lineup in What's in Uthrive? Every ingredient, explained.
