The seventh and final ingredient on the Uthrive label is potassium citrate. It is the partner to our Lake Deborah salt. Where the salt brings sodium, potassium citrate brings potassium. Sodium and potassium, side by side.

What is potassium citrate?
Potassium citrate is a simple compound made from potassium and citric acid, the same acid found in lemons and limes. It dissolves easily in water and is a common way to add potassium to food and drinks.
Where it comes from
Potassium is a mineral found naturally in many foods, from bananas to potatoes to leafy greens. To get it into a drink in a consistent, easy to dissolve form, it is paired with citrate. That is potassium citrate. It shares a family name with the citric acid in our recipe, which is part of why it sits so comfortably in a fruit flavoured drink.
Why it is in Uthrive
Potassium is an electrolyte, just like sodium. A natural hydration drink with real electrolytes should carry more than one, so we included both. Lake Deborah salt provides the sodium, and potassium citrate is how the potassium gets into the can.
Having the two together is what we mean when we say real electrolytes. Not a long list of extras, just the two we think matter most, from sources we are happy to put on the label. If you are wondering whether you need electrolytes at all, our article Electrolytes vs Water is a good place to start.

That's the lot
Potassium citrate rounds out a seven ingredient label. Low sugar, no added sugar, real electrolytes, Australian owned. See every ingredient in one place in What's in Uthrive? Every ingredient, explained.
