Uthrive ingredient slide: apple juice from concentrate

Apple Juice in Uthrive: Taste From Fruit, Not a Sweetener

The second ingredient on the Uthrive label is apple juice from concentrate. It is only a splash, but it does a lot of the work when it comes to taste. It is the reason our recipe can taste good without any added sugar or sweeteners.

What is apple juice from concentrate?

It is real apple juice. To make a concentrate, much of the water is removed from pressed apple juice so it is easier to store and transport. When it is used in a drink, water is added back. The result is still juice from apples, just handled in a way that keeps it consistent from batch to batch.

Where it comes from

As the name says, it comes from apples. Fruit is pressed, the juice is collected and then concentrated. In our recipe it is blended into the lightly sparkling water base in a small amount, enough to round out the flavour without turning Uthrive into a juice.

Why it is in Uthrive

We wanted taste from fruit, not from a sweetener. A lot of drinks lean on added sugar or artificial sweeteners to make them palatable. We took a different path. A splash of apple juice gives a soft, natural, rounded taste that works with our natural flavours of Passionfruit, Orange and Pineapple, plus Lime, which is currently sold out.

It also means Uthrive is low in sugar, with no added sugar. Any sugar in the can comes from the fruit itself. If you want to go deeper on this, read our article on no added sugar electrolyte drinks.
